Life imitates art

OAKLAND, California - A gasoline tanker crashed and burst into flames near the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge on Sunday, creating such intense heat that a stretch of highway melted and collapsed. Officials predicted a traffic nightmare for Bay Area commuters for weeks or months to come.

Nice comparison......I heard of a few bridges that have had major damage just recently. One in SC that connects some islands has to go under serious repair, and that is the only bridge that connects them, I think.

Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.

Heat exceeded 2,750 degrees, softening and buckling steel beams and melting bolts, California Department of Transportation director Will Kempton said.

At that temperature, almost anything will melt.
